Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have foiled an attempted kidnapping in Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi state and arrested two suspects before they could carry out their plan.
According to a press release made available to newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi state police command, SP Nafiu Habib the operation followed credible intelligence received on May 12, 2026, from an anonymous source.
The press release issued Thursday, disclosed that police mobilized swiftly, trailed the suspects, and intercepted them in time to prevent harm to the intended victims and disrupt the criminal network.
The suspects were identified as Kyellumi Umar and Muhammad Aliyu Gawo.
The press release said during interrogation, Kyellumi told investigators that they had planned to rob two men: Alh. A. Labdo, who they believed does not keep money in the bank, and Alh. Baba, who they said often carries large sums in a bag to the market. Both men were invited by police and advised on safety measures.
Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the operatives for their professionalism and swift response.
“Our commitment is to dismantle criminal gangs and ensure the safety of residents across Bauchi State,” he said.
The suspects are being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and continue sharing timely information with the police, noting that public cooperation is critical to preventing crime.
